TREE-SIDE HOUSE:
A Tropical A-Frame Cabin
Location: Apalit, Pampanga

“CREATING A SEAMLESS BOUNDARY BETWEEN
THE CABINS AND ITS ENVIRONMENT”
The tree-side cabin, with its simple yet iconic three-sided shape, is an a-frame cabin set in the tropical climate of the Philippines. With its triangular shape, it is not only visually pleasing, but it is also structurally sound.
Although a-frame structure have existed for generations, it is a fairly new concept in a tropical setting. As the design is set in the mountainous and tree field region of Pampanga, this housing project mimics the beauty of its setting. The structure and its environment work together to provide a comfortable and relaxing place for its users.
The design incorporates cross ventilation, stilted base, double layered roof, double glazed windows, and other passive cooling strategies to ensure comfort and beauty.
